This week's podcast originates near Izmir, Turkey, along the Aegean coast. We toured this historical city and also saw Ephesus, with its meticulously-restored library. And we waxed poetic about our favorite bread in Turkey, a bagel-like treat called Simit.

In this episode, we'll also tell you our secret to always looking like you fit in, even if you don't.  Scroll up for the link to the latest Elliott Confidential podcast.

Here are a few photos from this week's adventures:

We arrived in Izmir just as Ramadan ended. Crowds poured into the streets to commemorate the end of the fast and the start of Eid al-Fitr. It was really something to see.

We ended the week in Alacati, just south of Izmir. This is one of the windiest places in Turkey. It's an old Greek village with lots of shops and boutique hotels.

And, of course, there's the ancient city of Ephesus. We could have spent days exploring the ruins of this old Roman settlement. Maybe we’ll come back someday.
