Travelers are staying away from the United States in a big way.
New data show cross-border trips from Canada — America’s largest source of inbound tourism — plummeted in August, continuing a months-long decline.
At the same time, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) projects that the United States will be the only major destination among 184 countries to see a drop in foreign visitor spending this year.
The loss? An estimated $12.5 billion.
