It happened this week. Not one, but two airlines reportedly raised their luggage fees.

American Airlines upped its checked luggage charge to $40, a 33 percent increase. And JetBlue quietly increased its baggage fee from $35 to $45 if you pay for it within 24 hours of departure.

I say "it happened" because earlier this year, after Alaska Airlines raised its checked baggage from $30 to $35, I predicted this was just the beginning. 

And now, here we are.
