Airlines, cruise lines and tour operators issued billions in expiring vouchers to customers during the pandemic. What should they do with them?

What happened to the billions of dollars in credit that travel companies issued during the pandemic?

Most of it came from trips their customers had to cancel because of COVID. But instead of a refund, companies issued flight vouchers and future cruise credits.

And that funny money is about to expire.
