My favorite hotel experience was at Kinosaki Onsen in 2016. It was a traditional Japanese Onsen where we left our shoes at the entrance and put on wooden clogs and a yukata . The package included two meals a day prepared in our room and a choice of several hot springs. Until last week when we had a bedroom on an Amtrak train for two nights between Portland, Oregon and St. Paul, it was the most expensive hotel I ever stayed in. It was worth it. The scenery from the train was incredible. The Amtrak bedroom at $650/night more than a coach seat, was not worth it.

I usually stay at Hilton brand properties since I have status with them. My absolute favorite hotel stay was at the Conrad Hong Kong. We enjoyed a fabulous suite upgrade and their executive lounge is second to none. Other favorites include the Conrad Bangkok, Conrad London St. James and the Sofitel Saigon Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City. An honorable mention would be the Conrad New York Downtown because it's Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar offers a great view of the Hudson River while enjoying a cool cocktail on a hot summer day in the city.

It's great to see you all again! Enjoyed the podcast. After listening to you discuss food and the joy of finding things that "taste like home," I am wondering if you ever get homesick?!

My oft-quoted remark to my family is, “I don’t want to go to a nursing home; just get me a suite at a Peninsula hotel.”

My favorite hotel experience was in 2022 at the Radisson Blu Hotel Prado in Madrid. We booked a junior suite for a very reasonable price. European travel had reopened after Covid and most of the venues we visited were not overcrowded. Our suite was spacious and extremely comfortable with a king bed. A full bath and a half bath were greatly appreciated. Everyone at the hotel was professional and gracious, especially our servers Gloria (in the morning) and David (evening). We were across the street from the Prado and could walk to the two other major museums in the city. This trip was mid-November and the weather was cool with a little rain.

I also have to mention the Hotel Lunetta in Rome- it’s located on Piazza Paradiso and our experience there was wonderful. We have stayed there twice and were warmly welcomed back by the staff on our second visit.
