In hindsight, it's clear how Richard Canton broke the first rule of travel.

Canton was flying from Cancún back to Toronto on Sunwing Airlines, a Canadian discount airline. It's one of those air carriers where everything is extra, including your luggage.

When he checked in online, he tried to pay for two bags. The system charged him for six. That's an extra $570.
