Scott Mayer got snagged by it when he booked two roundtrip flights from Minneapolis to Florence, Italy.
A few weeks ago, he received a troubling email saying his flight had been canceled and that he owed $600 in cancellation fees.
Fact: Airlines don't charge cancellation fees for flights they cancel.
