Consumer Alert: Here's another tricky way airlines try to keep your money
Beware of carrier-imposed fees that may never be refunded. Unless you call us.
Look out! Airlines are finding new ways to keep their vague carrier-imposed fees and unless you pay attention, you could lose some serious money.
It happened to Zein Issa-Nakash, who was flying from Miami to London on British Airways through an award ticket she'd booked through American Airlines. British Airways has a "carrier-imposed fee" which covers some of the airline's operating costs.
Issa-Nakash's carrier fees came to $696, which is almost the cost of an inexpensive economy-class ticket.
