Consumer Alert: Car rental companies are charging for pet hair cleaning again!
These tricky charges are alive and well despite rumors of their demise
Bernard Sia doesn't have a dog, and he definitely wasn't traveling with a dog when he rented a car in Austin, Texas, recently.
That didn't seem to matter to Avis, which hit him with a $125 cleaning fee a few weeks after he returned the car.
"They said they found animal hair in my car," he says.
