That is a bit of an understatement for a question. We left for our Iceland trip on August 20th, and came back September 13th. We had a nice rest from all the politics of the US, and then on September 10th, 3 days before we got back, Charlie Kirk was shot and the whole US went to hell. I wish we hadn't had to come back!

Oh yes. I was trying to stay out of politics in this podcast, but you can read between the lines. The U.S. isn't what it used to be.

Hmmm.... the 94 eathquake... came home from New Orleans to find my condo had cracks in the wall and stuff from shelves and refrigerator all over the floor.

And a dive trip where we came home to find that the flaky dog sitter had pulled a TV cable out of the wall and left dog poop all over the place?

Whenever I come back from travel, it seems like Dallas has yet another level of interchanges, and yet another massive expanse of never-ending construction!

Heh one year I came home after my week at the beach to a completely rearranged living room -- my next door neighbor, who always cat-sat for me, had decided to play interior decorator and move my furniture and piano into completely different spots. Very disconcerting! It would have worked had my room been about 10 feet wider than it is. I lived with it for a while and then moved it all back.

There is a "real" Chinese restaurant in Phoenix, the "Great Wall" located at 3446 W. Camelback Road, #155. It is located in the back of the parking lot. Great dim sum. When I have eaten there it was filled with local Chinese residents, which is always a good sign. I have eaten dim sum in China and Hong Kong. This is a good place.

I was on a small ship cruise along the west coast of Iceland, when I saw on my neighborhood list serve that there was a bad thunderstorm, with power outages and many trees down. My neighbor texted me to reassure me that although there were some "branches" down, nothing had hit my house or car. I came home to find the storm had toppled 5 large trees like dominos one on top of the other, landing inches from the house. My neighbor said she didn't want to spoil my trip by telling me since there was nothing I could do from Iceland. Clean-up with heavy equipment resulted in vegetation being scraped to bare ground. I collected seed from a native plant meadow, threw it out there, and created a meadow of my own. Nice ending actually.

My mother lived with us. We went on vacation, she didn't want to go.When we got back, she had our dining room table cut off 3 ins.claiming that it was too tall,my husband and I made that table in a woodshop class, painted our kitchen yellow yuk!,changed flooring in bathroom as well as painted it,bought living room furniture at a garage sale and put ours in the barn, went through my husbands' t shirts and threw them away, had our driveway paved, rearranged my kitchen cabinets,What made my husband really mad was that she threw away his favorite t shirts that were worn and soft. Ha Ha He was very understanding, I was not.

Not answering your weekly question, but it is nice to have "Iden Unfiltered" back on the podcasts.

Living overseas for 20 years, I would come home to the US every couple of years. I felt more culture shock returning because the places and the people were never the same as when you left them. Lots of changes and you feel that you no longer fit in.

I don't know that the places have changed as much as I'VE changed by being away. Returning always depresses me because I feel the 'social' negatives so acutely.

By the way, welcome back to Phoenix. Good to have you here for a bit.
