Several years back we were in a rain forest in Costa Rica. It started to rain there, but we didn't get wet. To this day I don't understand that!

We had just finished a business trip to Memphis & were at the Memphis airport checked in for our return to Sacramento via spending a night in Dallas. An enormous storm was approaching & tornadoes were forecast. American Airlines would not allow us to cancel our flight & said the flight was still going to go. We cancelled, rented a car and drove to Dallas. (The Memphis flight did indeed get delayed for over a day and several people died in that storm). When we arrived in Dallas American would not allow us to check in for our connecting flight because we cancelled the original leg of our flight, despite the fact that the Memphis leg had still not left the airport. We then booked a flight out on Alaska Airlines because severe weather from that same storm was on the way to Dallas. We arrived in Sacramento at around the same time as originally scheduled and avoided a horrendous storm with tornadoes in both Memphis & Dallas (people died in that storm in both states). American refused to reimburse us for any of that flight that did indeed get cancelled and our flight insurance also refused reimbursement. I am really happy the FFA has now changed reimbursement rules on delays and cancelled flights!

We’ve been in Scotland and Ireland for the past two weeks and, dédite forecasts to the contrary, we’ve had the most excellent weather. Our tour manager says “this never happens!” In Dublin now. It’s beautiful!

Spent a week in Porto in the midst of heavy down pours. The Douro River flooded its banks; all the river cruises were cancelled and the river was strewn with tree limbs and other debris. Sandbags were all over the streets, directing the water away from buildings. The doors to the tourist office had to be shut to stop water from entering. Porto is a lovely town and we had been there before but it was a challenge.

Quite a few years ago visited Switzerland in July to attend Montreux Jazz Festival & experienced temperatures from rainy low 50's to steamy 100° over the course of 2 weeks - wardrobe packed & hotels stayed in weren't up to either extreme.

We just (9/12) got back from a cruise around the UK. Left Invergordon on the Caribbean Princess in great sunny weather on Saturday evening and woke to "total" pea soup at dawn en route to Edinburgh. We were not allowed to dock at the jewel in the cruise due to the proximity of oil storage in Edinburgh's harbor. Had to endure a sea day on top of two more planned sea days.

I spent a September in Boquete Panama. The mornings were beautiful. You could almost set your watch by the weather, because at noon the skies literally opened up and the rain teamed down non-stop until around 8 or 9 in the evening. Beautiful area but not a dry one in September.

Most unpredictable weather was in STANLEY in the Falkland Islands. We had about 6-8 hrs ashore from a cruise and in that time we experienced Sunshine, rain, sleet and snow!!!

We were worried about the same weather when we went to the Falklands to see the Penguins. Our captain had already told us that only one out of three cruises, make it because of the weather. We were lucky and had cloudless skies, beautiful sun, but it was cold, which we expected. It’s amazing What we put ourselves through for great photography.!!
