The CDC has cut all employees in charge of its Vessel Sanitation Program
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has fired all full-time employees in its Vessel Sanitation Program.
The 24 employees were responsible for conducting unannounced health inspections and reporting them monthly. They also monitored and reported gastrointestinal outbreaks and conducted equipment reviews for new ships.
The question is, were these inspectors really unnecessary? And will their absence put cruise passengers in any danger?
