When Matt Heiman hailed a Lyft last Sunday in Scarsdale, N.Y., everything seemed routine. His driver arrived, picked him up, and took him home. He had no idea he'd become the latest victim of the ride-share vomit scam.
"Later that day, I received a notice that I had been charged an additional $80 damage fee," he says. "Lyft shared two pictures, which supposedly showed a spill. I did not spill anything — it must have been from another ride or perhaps was not even taken in the car."
