Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro has announced a settlement with Marriott International that could effectively end resort fees.

You know resort fees — those annoying extras that get added to your hotel bill after you get a quote on a room rate? Consumer advocates have been fighting them for decades. 

Shapiro says over the years, travelers have been misled by the published rates offered by hotels for a night’s stay, only to be surprised by mandatory resort fees. These extras, which cover everything from using the hotel gym to "free" phone calls, are typically disclosed in the fine print and are not shown in the per-night room rate.

But is this really the end of resort fees as we know them?
